3 Ways To Find Your Perfect Customers Online

Transcript

You see all these people here? Somewhere in that crowd of people is your ideal customer, your perfect audience. And the question a lot of business owners ask is, “How do we target our ideal customers on social media?” So that’s what we’re going to cover in this video, three ways to identify and target customers that are actually going to give you money on social media.

Now, you see that is the point where I’d normally start walking because as we know in video marketing, a movement helps engagement. And obviously, you get a lot of the curiosity factor of, where is this guy going? But it is brutally hot in London right now so you’re just going to have to imagine that I was walking, and besides, breaking the fourth wall works just as well.

All right, let’s get into it. Three ways to target your perfect audience on Facebook. The first way is by putting content out there that they can engage with and then creating audiences of people that engage with that content. Here’s what I mean. The old way of identifying your ideal audience, people that are going to become your customers, was to figure out who they were. That’s basically like demographic data. So age, location, gender, what they were interested. In that was the old way of doing things on social media. Because social media right now is so ridiculously inexpensive, the best way to identify your ideal audience, people that are going to spend money with you, is through behavior. You could figure out every single thing about me in terms of who I am, but that’s not really going to tell you what my buying habits are. My behavior is always going to be a lot more effective.

And so the way that you use content to identify behavior is that you create content and you distribute it across social media, and then you track who engages with that content, and the people that engage with your content are going to be your best audience. So rather than trying to be extremely super ninja with trying to figure out exactly who your ideal audience is, social media marketing is so cheap now, show your content to everybody and then just create custom audiences of the people that engage with it. That’s going to be your most engaged, your best, most perfect audience.

The second way for you to be able to target your perfect audience is by putting your content in front of the videos they are going to watch on YouTube. Now, it is mind boggling to me that YouTube is the second largest search platform, search engine in the world, yet I guarantee that less than 5% of you watching this right now are spending at least 25 bucks a day on YouTube. Think about all the money to get spent on search and everyone that’s competing for that, yet you can target people based on intent because of what they’re searching on YouTube, virtually no one’s competing because a lot of businesses and a lot of entrepreneurs are scared of video.

So what that means is, YouTube is a completely untapped market for you to be able to put your content in front of your ideal audience. Think about what your audience likes to watch, think about programs or shows or clips that your audience would be interested in. And then when they’re searching for the key terms, the search terms that your business is bidding for in search and PPC, you can put your content in front of them. So one of the things I want you to go and take away from this video is, now before the end of the month, in the next 30 days, put a piece of content on video and target your search keywords, because you’re going to see a much, much, much bigger ROI from that video content that you’re getting from your search content.

The third way to identify your ideal audience on social media is by targeting the events, conferences that they would go to. So think about the industry events or the industry conferences in your particular niche. What happens at most of these conferences? You’d have a business that’s going to spend 50, 60k to have a booth, and when you get to the event, what’s everybody doing? They’re on their phone. All their attention is in their phone, yet what some businesses, and you may relate to this, are spending so much money to be at the booth.

Here’s what some really smart business owners are doing, and you’re going to find a lot of success and great ROI if you try it as well. At the industry events, the conferences, based in your industry, create content that you would probably have at the booth or content that’s going to be useful to those attendees, and then target people that are going to be at the conference center or the event center with that content. You’re going to see a much higher ROI because they’re spending all their time on their phone anyway and you know that your exact audience is going to be in that location.
